EC Melo 4 and Melo 5 resistors Eleaf – Find a vape suitable for your cleaner

The resistance EC Melo 4 / Melo 5 Eleaf are replacement resistors designed for Eleaf compatible cleaners.

Available in different values and technologies, they allow you to choose a rendering adapted to your preferences: abundant steam, direct inhalation, more moderate draw or reduced power use.

The resistances of the EC range include the versions EC2, EC-M, EC-N, EC-S and EC-A. Each declination has its own power range and technical characteristics.

Which resistances to choose for a Melo 4 or Melo 5?

The different EC versions allow you to adapt your electronic cigarette to your way of vapote.

Version Value Power indicated Technology
EC2 0.3 ohm 30 to 80 W Kanthal, double coil
EC2 0.5 ohm 30 to 100 W Kanthal, double coil
EC-M 0.15 ohm 30 to 75 W Kanthal multihole
EC-N 0.15 ohm 30 to 70 W Kanthal net oil
EC-S 0.6 ohm 15 to 30 W SS316L Mesh
EC-A 0.15 ohm 40 to 70 W AST Mesh
EC-A 0.3 ohm 30 to 50 W AST Mesh
EC-A 0.5 ohm 20 to 40 W AST Mesh

Important:values and power ranges depend on the exact version. Always refer to the indications on your resistance or packaging.

Resistances EC2 0.3 and 0.5 ohm: the classic versions of Melo 4

The resistors EC2 Eleaf are used with Melo 4 D22 and Melo 4 D25.

Their design combines resistive Kanthal yarn and organic cotton for use in variable power mode.

  • EC2 0.3 ohm:adapted for direct inhalation with an announced range of 30 to 80 watts.
  • EC2 0.5 ohm:also intended for direct inhalation, with an announced range of 30 to 100 watts.

For these two models, start at moderate power, then gradually increase within the allowed range to find the right setting for you.

EC-M and EC-N 0.15 ohm resistance: for an aerial vape

Resistance EC-M and EC-N 0.15 ohm use different heating architectures, designed to favor the contact surface with cotton soaked in e-liquid.

The EC-M uses a multihole perforated structure, while the EC-N uses a resistive net structure.

These versions are mainly suitable for direct inhalation with a sufficiently open airflow and a suitable e-liquid feed.

EC-S 0.6 ohm resistance: more moderate power

The resistance EC-S 0.6 ohm Eleaf uses a stainless steel mesh structure SS316L.

Its power range of 15 to 30 watts is suitable for less powerful use than EC-M and EC-N 0.15 ohm versions.

It can be interesting for users looking for a restrictive direct inhalation or a relatively moderate draw, depending on the airflow setting.

EC-A resistance: AST Mesh technology

EC-A resistors use an AST Mesh structure and exist in several values:

  • EC-A 0.15 ohm:40 to 70 watts.
  • EC-A 0.3 ohm:30 to 50 watts.
  • EC-A 0.5 ohm:20 to 40 watts.

These versions allow you to choose a different power range depending on the steam rendering and the type of inhalation you are looking for.

Which cleaners are EC Eleaf compatible with?

The EC resistance family is used with several generations of Eleaf cleaners.

  • Melo 4 D22
  • Melo 4 D25
  • Melo 4S
  • Melo 5
  • Melo 3 and some variants
  • Melo 2

Compatibility may vary depending on the exact version of the resistance and the cleaner. Always check the reference of your material before ordering.

How do I initiate EC Melo resistance?

Seeding is an essential step before the first use of a new resistance.

  1. Remove the used resistance from the cleaner.
  2. Place a few drops of e-liquid on the visible parts of the cotton of the new resistance.
  3. Install the new resistance in the base of the cleaner.
  4. Fill the tank with e-liquid.
  5. Wait about 10 minutes to allow the cotton to soak well.
  6. Start at the bottom of the recommended power range.
  7. Increase gradually if necessary.

Poor initiation can cause a burning taste from the first puffs and prematurely damage cotton.

What e-liquid use with EC resistors?

The choice of the PG/VG ratio depends on the resistance version used, the size of its power openings and the power set.

E-liquids50/50 PG/VG are a common starting point for several compatible EC resistors.

Models designed for direct inhalation and with wide openings can also accept more glycerine-rich vegetable liquids.

Check the recommendations of your resistance to limit the risk of poor e-liquid diet.

When should we change a Melo 4 or Melo 5 resistance?

Resistance is a consumable whose life depends in particular on the frequency of use, the regulated power and the composition of the e-liquid.

Several signs may indicate that it is time to replace it:

  • A decrease in flavor rendering.
  • A persistent burning taste.
  • A lower steam production.
  • A crazed cotton.
  • Use becomes less regular or pleasant.

Replace the resistance as soon as its performance deteriorates sustainably.

FAQ – Resistances EC Melo 4 / Melo 5 Eleaf

Are the EC Melo 4 resistors compatible with the Melo 5?

Yes, several EC family resistors, including EC2, are compatible with Melo 4 and Melo 5. Check the exact reference of resistance before purchase.

What difference between the resistances EC2 0.3 and 0.5 ohm?

Both versions are intended for direct inhalation. The EC2 0.3 ohm has an announced range of 30 to 80 W, while the EC2 0.5 ohm is announced for 30 to 100 W. Follow the instructions of the installed version.

What EC resistance do you choose to vapot at 20 watts?

The EC-S 0.6 ohm resistance has an announced range of 15 to 30 W. The EC-A 0.5 ohm can also suit its range from 20 to 40 W, if it is compatible with your equipment.

How to start a Eleaf Melo resistance?

Stir the visible parts of the cotton with a few drops of e-liquid, install the resistance, fill the tank and wait about 10 minutes. Then start at low power, within the permitted range.

When to replace a Melo 4 or Melo 5 resistance?

Replace it when the flavours decrease, a burning taste persists or steam production decreases sharply. The life span varies according to use and e-liquid.

Are EC resistors suitable for 50/50 e-liquids?

Several EC resistors can work with 50/50 PG/VG e-liquids. However, compatibility depends on the version used, its power and its e-liquid supply system.

Can used EC resistance be cleaned and reused?

EC resistances are consumables. A cleaning does not necessarily restore cotton or resistive yarn. When resistance is worn out, replacement is recommended.

Can EC2 resistance be used in temperature control?

The EC2 Kanthal resistors are designed for variable power mode. For temperature control, resistance using compatible material and a suitable box is required.
